The front yard do-over has been a BFD. The daily watering as Chris installs the drip system; the weeding as unwanted plants try to get a foothold; the final plantings and keeping them all alive. It’s been a lot more work than I thought.
Add to that workload that the backyard irrigation system developed a leak. In order to keep it from drowning the west side yard (mostly shade, with 1 Raywood ash, 3 Prunus caroliniana trees, a Hydrangea macrophylla, a Hydrangea quercus, some Lyriope, Dimondia, and a couple Japanese pained ferns). We turned off the water so I’ve had to hand-water that yard as well. It’s been very time-consuming.
I am trying to organize watering the front yard after 7 pm; the back yard before 7:30 am; walking the dogs, spot-watering where needed, and riding my bike as much as possible. We’ll have 9 bike-free days in Brooklyn over the next 2 weeks, so I want to cram in as many miles as I can. I want a variety of miles, and the last few weeks have provided that. I’m kind of banking miles now.
After our 31.1 mi. ride (my average was 17.2;I was 2nd to last to finish), we had pizza, wine, beer, water, a solid green salad with fruit augmentations, and stimulating conversations. It’s been quiet a Wednesday and I’m going to wrap it up now. Thanks for reading!
